Where should I put this tree ?

I’ve got a tree to plant. I bought to soften the shed ( dh man cave) that sits behind the brown fence.
mom not sure whether I should be planting it up close to the fence as it is in the pictures , to shelter it from the wind or bring it out into the gap between the fence and the brown shed. It is a hoheria.
can anyone advise me ? New to gardening.

I don't know that plant but from having just looked it up it gets pretty big (though over a long period of time) - 4 plus metres tall AND wide. Looks lovely though. Is it this variety? www.ornamental-trees.co.uk/hoheria-snow-white-p977

I'd definitely not plant it right up against the shed as I don't think it look very happy - how big is the gap in your picture?

If you plant it right up against the fence, it will grow less symmetric and more untidy, I would give it a bit more room if you have it available.

Yes it’s hoheria Snow White. I’ve planted it away from the fence hopefully that will be ok. It has a bamboo cane tied to it and I’ve left that on aswell as staking it. I’m not sure that’s right but it is incredibly windy here today so maybe ?

That's fine, should be great.

Hope it grows well! Remember plants often take a couple of years to lay down their roots before they start growing in earnest.
