Help! Dracaena dropping leaves

Hi all, recently repotted a dracaena marginata as the roots we're coming out of the bottom of the pot, but think I may have done more harm than good... It's been dropping leaves from the midway part of the stem. I just lifted it out and looks like root root is setting in. The soil is damp but not waterlogged. I haven't watered since repotting but I did give it a good soak the , maybe too much. There's white, what I can only describe as tiny looking balls in the compost. Could be spores? Look suspiciously like tiny eggs tbh but can't see any creepy crawlies.

It's just general multipurpose compost as that's all I had.

What should I do? Add new compost? Put it back in a smaller pot???

Really want to revive it!
