Raspberry patch after raspberries cut down

Hello, I’m quite a new gardener, as may become apparent.
I have a small garden, so I’d like to make use of as much of it all year round as possible.
So… raspberries!
I have some autumn fruiting ones. They need cutting down after they’ve fruited - will I then be left with raspberry cane stubble until spring, or is there anything else I can put in the same area?
Perhaps should have thought about this before planting them 😳

You need to leave it be so the canes recover. By all means mulch but anything around them will quickly be overcome by raspberries soon
