Plants in a steep bank

Hello sorry I can't seem to attach an image but we have a very steep front garden which we would have loved to have tiered but just don't have the budget right now. We would like it to look nice so we are thinking of removing all the grass as its mainly full of weeds and filling it out with lots of plants. Do you have good suggestions on what plants are suitable for steep banks and are good at filling areas in winter as well as summer?

try Vinca?

search for 'ground cover plants' and see what else comes up.

Is it south-facing, north?
Maybe look at any of the creeping types - creeping thyme, bugle, periwinkle?

on banks the earth moves down so ground cover plants as roots spread and hug the earth keeping it in place,
