Seeds for cold frame wintering

I have a cold frame that I am determined to use all year old, but being a novice gardener it is proving quite challenging!

I am looking for some plants to plant alongside my campanula [pscharskyana at the front of my border and as I need quite a few, I was hoping to grow from seed. Does anyone have any recommendations please? Bonus if it is trailing (to go over small border fence), no more than 50cm high and suitable for a east facing garden Flowers

Most hardy annuals can be sown now and overwintered for earlier flowering next year (cornflower, marigolds etc).

Some people start sweet peas now. You could grow a very dwarf variety and let it trail

I was going to say sweet peas, but I use my cold frame to overwinter pelargoniums. They seem to quite like it.
