Strawberry plants

Complete learner here. Have just rented an allotment and would like to get going with planting strawberry plants.

Can anyone offer any advice please? Such as, is there somewhere that they can be bought in mass for a reasonable price?
Also tips for looking after them please.

Thanks everyone.

Lots of people with strawberries will have runners at this time of year they may give you for free if you ask around. You can buy bare root strawberries online and plant over winter or you can grow from seed in the spring.

Congrats on your allotment. weirdly I don’t do anything with mine at all. They are just in a planter. In spring I top up with some fresh compost then, at most, they get a weekly watering. They always produce loads of fruit and loads of runners each year but they are a few years old now.

you can buy bare root or 9cm pots here, the more you buy the cheaper per plant

they seem to have good reviews

I've got 50 or so unwanted plants from the runners in my patch. There will be loads of gardners like me, happy to give away. Ask on your local Facebook group.

As for looking after them - mine are literally just dotted in between shrubs in my garden, as ground cover. I do next to nothing to cultivate - just pull them out when they encroach on "proper" plants.
