Help with my plant

Hi.
I need some help with this plant please.
Firstly, I don't know what it is and secondly it doesn't look very well!
It is in semi shade, and is watered every other day (every day when hot).

I know it is supposed to flower, purple flowers i believe. It has new shoots, should i cut it back?

Any assistance would be welcomed!

thank you

It's a hebe. Needs a bigger pot or to be planted into the ground.

I thought hebe too. When you say you water it every other day, is the soil dry? You could be over-watering it, especially as it's in a pot. Agree it would do better in the ground but if that's not possible take it out the pot and see what the roots are like - if it's a squidgy smelly mess cut out any black rotten roots and repot in dry soil. And then water only when it's dry. I would trim back a little but am not a hebe expert so others might have more informed views.

I also thought hebe!

Repot it, fresh compost, bit more space for it roots. Perhaps move it slightly - if in full sun, give it some partial shade. If in full shade, give it a bit of sun.

Might need a feed too.

If you get a pot saucer to put the pot in, you can water the saucer and roots will soak up. And if it does rain, the water won't run straight through if soil is dry.

I would go with one step at a time, so re-pot it first and see how it fares. Don't cut it back, re-pot it and feed it as it could just end up completely stressed and in worse condition.
