trough in north facing garden

I am looking for ideas for plants to put in a trough in a north facing garden. The trough already has some spring bulbs in it. Ideally, I'd like something I could leave in the trough over the winter so I have something to look at out of the window.

A small green cedar would be nice. Or something that smells nice in winter like a daphne or a sweet box. Or a yew for some evergreen.

An Azalea might survive OK depending on how shady it looks. horticulture.co.uk/shade-loving-plants-for-containers/

Hellebore would be another good one.
