Cosmos with no buds yet

I grew lots from seed this year. I have lovely strong healthy bushy plants, quite tall at about 3 feet, but no flowers or even buds yet. I didn't sow / plant them out super early but not really late either. Should I be worrying or are they OK?

Did you pinch them out?

It's impossible to know - sometimes cosmos do become 'cosmos trees' with no flowers. I had one last year, bloody annoying! But they might just flower late. They keep going until the frosts, so plenty of time for flowers yet.

Yes I did pinch them out and they are nice and bushy so i was feeling quite hopeful....It's weird. But my garden is quite exposed and chilly and things do tend to be a bit behind so maybe they will just get there eventually?

Mine aren't flowering yet either.

Same here, and I did pinch, but nothing at all yet.

Like you I’m thinking it’s because of the aspect of my garden and the temperatures here (Scotland), although we have had a few blazing sunny days.

I’ve had a couple but no where near what I hoped for, maybe it’s not a great cosmos year.

Thanks everyone. Good to hear I'm not the only one with no flowers yet. Maybe they will come on now the sun is finally shining!

It depends on the variety, the larger big cerise pink ones tend to flower from August onward and as has been said turn into Cosmos ‘trees’. The smaller varieties, that tend to be paler colours are flowering now.
The weather will also play a big part, they don’t like cold and will delay flowering.
