What’s wrong with my rose buds?

I planted 2 DA climbing roses in March. Some of buds on one of them have a problem but I don’t know what. Can anyone help? Thanks

Don’t know but David Austin are very responsive if you send a picture. Looks like pests though.

rain can cause a rotting of the bud, outer petals are usually OK but inner petals rot and the flower doesn’t open. I’m not sure that’s what that is, the damage looks too uneven. What happens if you leave the flowers to open?

@MereDintofPandiculation It’s been so dry here I don’t think it can be rain. I’ve not left one to
open but I will. Lots of buds aren’t affected luckily or I would be a bit heartbroken!
