Achillea. Is it just me?

A few years back I grew some from seed, called summer berries. Packet looked nice and bright, I lovingly tended them all winter, they finally flowered into something little removed from common yarrow.

This year, I got some cerise queen seedlings which I have again nurtured and planted out, they are just coming out and in stead of the hot pink splashes I expected, I have an insipid pale pink.

Is Achillea always like this? Or is it nice and bright for others?

I have seen it in brighter colours. Personally I prefer the white, but it’s academic as it’s a slug magnet

Really? I hadn't noticed much slug action, but maybe the slugs will spare me the effort of digging it out.

It's nice but totally wrong for the planting scheme, such as it is.

I took them home from a propagation day at Wisley, nice to know even pros get their labels mixed up!
