Have I just been nurturing a weed?

In a moment of blind optimism I planted some agapanthus and another type of bulb which I've now completely forgotten. I should have learnt by now that bulbs never work in my garden, not sure whether they rot or get dug up by something but once planted they never reappear. So I've been excitedly watching this little fella grow thinking one of the bulbs has worked, but I've just come to the realisation that I think it might just be a weed. Any knowledgeable gardeners who can put me out of my misery?

I’m still watering it just in case.

Rudbeckia or echinacea?

Ooh thanks so much. I tried a plant ID app and it didn't give me anything. But now you've said echinacea I've remembered that's what I planted with the agapanthus. So it's actually growing! First time ever a bulb has worked. (I'm choosing to ignore the fact that I planted about six and this is the only one there's any sign of).

Looks a bit like my black-eyed-susan leaves, but I've just realised I've been lovingly tending a weed, so I am not a reliable source! I thought I'd planted three penstemons and was very pleased when four started growing. One was getting very big very quick and its leaves turned a pretty reddish colour. I am 99% sure it is a weed but just giving it a couple of days in case it does actually flower and I am wrong.

Aubergines have furry leaves

i thought Echinacea too - but I think of them as herbaceous perennials, not bulbs?
