Should I put my spouts out?

I've raised three lovely sprout plants from seed. I did put them out quite regularly to harden off but then stopped (due to family crisis) for about 2 weeks.

They are now huge (30cm) and completely outgrown their pots but have lived in a very sunny window sill.

Their new raised bed is ready. What would be worse - putting them out without hardening off or leaving them in tiny pots?

Get the poor things out and in to some proper soil! Grin

at this time of year you don’t need to worry too much about hardening off. It’s night time temperatures you’re worried about, and there won’t be much difference between next to the window and outside.

you won’t get worthwhile sprouts off a bonsai spout plant

I put out a 40cm tall sunflower last week. I sprayed it with garlic spritz to ward off slugs and snails. But this morning I found the stalk snapped and the leaves gone, and shiny slug trail all around. Wholly dispiriting. So be warned!

They’re not quite so fond of cabbage family as they are of sunflowers, but yes, keep an eye on them
