Getting rid of honeysuckle

...at least I think that's what it is? It's gone completely mad and is growing everywhere. Spent 2 days hacking away at it but want to get rid of the roots. Any tips on doing so effectively so it doesn't come back? Thanks

It's not honeysuckle, it is vinca. You just have to keep pulling it up. The roots are fairly shallow but it spreads by runners.
