Is this a weed?

I've been nuturing this hoping it was a self seeded poppy but I think it may be a weed - maybe ragwort or something related. Can anyone help please?

It doesn’t look like a poppy, could be ragwort, looks similar but something maybe slightly different about it - I am not sure if it is just the light on the leaves making it seem different.
You could wait for flowers and then pull it up if necessary? Wear gloves if it is Ragwort.

Thanks, I think it probably is ragwort so it's going to go. I have been waiting for it to flower but it's getting huge!

Yes, it could be mugwort. It's actually a bit frillier than both ragwort and mugwort (looking at images on google). Anyway, I decided to take it out and it had enormous roots so probably not the best thing in my border.

It's Common Wormwood, Artemisia absinthium. We have it growing as an ornamental in the walled garden where I work.

@MattBerrysHair - it looks like you may be right and I've lost my opportunity to make interesting alcoholic beverages (as well as having some rather decorative foliage in my border).
