What are these black things on my daliahs

I have found these all over my daliahs. Can someone tell me what they are.

A picture would help, but it sounds as though they could be blackfly - a type of aphid.

Thanks. I have blasted with water. Will see how they go. Thanks for all the help. I have grown these from seed myself. And I will be so upset to loose them.
