HELP...What on earth's happened to this bush!!!

This bush is around 7-8 years old. Havent a clue what it is/wasbut was beautiful green foilage with little purple almost like grape looking flowers.

Not sure what's happened but it's literalky dead...brown all over.

We have trimmed it regularly.

Any ideas?
Do we did it out and get rid?

Mine had some new growth at the base so I am going to cut it back

Havent a clue what it is.

All I know is it always had lovely dark green foilage then it would bud into vivd purple.

It's not like lilac flowers that hang down was like pods, buds of purple.

Just dont understand it

Little grape like flowers and dark green leaves sounds like a ceonothus, did it look like this? They do have a reputation for not living very long sadly.

Looks like Ceanothus, from the shape of the dead leaves. They can die when they become mature, although some are very long lived.
I think you’ll have to get rid of it.

Cut it right back, it might come back to life. I had one that did.

I'm not sure what would have caused it to die but when you say very vivid purple I immediately think callicarpa
