Can anyone advise please? I saw one advertised online the other day and never came across it again!

It was like a grabber that went into the grass around the weed and pulled the whole thing out?

Following because I need one too! Preferably that doesn't leave big holes in the grass or I'd have none left.

I bought the fiskars weed puller. I am a v v v novice gardener, overwhelmed with a garden my poorly dh can’t manage.
it is v efficient but does leave some holes where you take them out. I found it v satisfying!

What weeds? If dandelions, daisies, clover, plantains etc. there is a bit of a movement to leave them. Nine dandelions provide enough nectar for one bumblebee.

If something that really needs to come out, I just use a pointy trowel or a knife.

there are loads on google, amazon have one called ideaworks no bend weed puller, sorry but I can't seem to link it

We have one, we call it a grandpa weeder. I'm not sure if it's an official name or just one we've made up though! It works really well.

If that's the case then I'm keeping plenty of bumble bees well fed. Bloody dandelions.

I wouldn't bother to remove dandelions. You are fighting a losing battle anyway.

We have this-it’s fabulous.

Yes but they leave bloody great big holes. Dandelions have very strong roots

I am having great success with an antique meat-carving fork thingy - looks a bit like a pitchfork with two very sharp prongs. Probably a bit sacrilegey really but we don’t eat meat much and we’ve got millions of dandelions!

I’ve got one of those, does a good job on tap rooted weeds.

SockFluffInTheBath · 10/05/2022 21:26

Sorry, mine’s a gardening thing not an actual meat fork 😂

bigbeautifulmonster · 10/05/2022 22:36

Holes in soil.. so what? Fill with soil and the grass will creep over it in now time.

Dandelions: to keep or not to keep? Well, when their in my lawn they drive me crazy but I can tolerate them in my borders.

Make a dandelion root brew. Yum chops.

Ah so when one bee has been round that’s 9 dandelions that can go- just follow the bees! Apparently they leave smelly footprints on a flower so once they’ve ‘used’ it no other bees will bother with it.

I had green thumb doing quarterly weed and feed treatments and never had any weeds to pull. Now I have stopped as I realised I prefer life on my lawn and am actively encouraging the kids to blow dandelion seeds over it.
