I have tried a plant identifier app but not convinced of the result, so reaching out on here to see if anyone can identify what this is? It seems to be growing quickly but I have no idea where it came from and, whether it should be pulled out (although we rather like it!) 😀

Can you help me identify what this is?

Lemongrass?! That's what came up on a photo search!

Itsokay2020 · 04/05/2022 21:20

I think it’s too tall and slim to be lemongrass unfortunately. I am beginning to wonder if it’s corn 🌽 we are very close to a huge corn field - can it travel though? It’s a bit random to have one growing surely?!?

It looks more like corn than lemongrass. Maybe the local birds have pooped corn kernels over your garden.

Bit of a left turn- it's not cornflower is it?

Looks like maize or sweet corn to me

AnOldCynic · 04/05/2022 22:33

Maybe Arundo donax.

Mischance · 04/05/2022 22:35

It looks like maize.

Looks like my neighbour's sweetcorn plant, I'm guessing there are quite a few that look similar. Enjoy your crop, whatever it is! 😅

Looks like sweetcorn to me

StrawberryPot · 04/05/2022 22:40

Sweetcorn?

hedgehogger1 · 05/05/2022 07:41

Looks like it's escaped from a farmers field. If it's sweetcorn you're unlikely to get anything from one plant.
