Sowing Parsnips and Radishes Together

I have seen and heard this recommended all over the place. I sowed the two types of seed in a row together six weeks ago. I am now enthusiastically incorporating radishes into every meal. The problem is I can only see two tiny parsnip seedlings in the row. I feel the radishes took all the light and moisture and the parsnips didn’t have a chance.
Did I sow the seeds too thickly, should I have radically thinned the radishes as soon as they appeared or is there still hope?

Parsnips take a long time to germinate, that’s the whole point of the radishes, as a place marker till the parsnips appear. Now two have appeared, see what happens over the next couple of weeks

Thanks. It just doesn’t seem as though they have optimum conditions for their first appearance. There’s also a slight risk they will be pulled up with the radishes.
