Salvias for black spot protection

One of my roses has black spot already and much as I would like to be completely relaxed and just live with it I really can’t! I’m keen to find a non-spray control and read about planting salvias nearby to roses.

Has anyone done this and does it work? How many salvias does it take, how close, and will any variety of salvia do it or only certain ones?

Sarah Raven has a post on this on her website. With suggestions. I tried it last year and I'm not sure whether it made a difference or not, but it looked pretty. I also picked off the leaves, mulched, fed and tried to water carefully.

One rose started off looking like a stick once I'd picked all the leaves off but came back beautifully.

Thanks @JustJam4Tea I’ll look that out.

So it’s apparently the microphylla that are effective against black spot. I have some ‘hot lips’ cuttings in little pots already and will place them strategically to see what happens…
