Best plants for shade?

I have a small border along one side of my garden however it tapers at one end between the fence and the back of the house. This means it rarely gets any sun. I scattered some wildflower seeds a few weeks ago which are growing well apart from that patch at the end.

What can I put here that will grow well? My boys play a lot of football so need something that will withstand a hit with a ball too Hmm Any advice please?

Wild flowers do best in full sun, so they might not do as well as hoped.

Is it dry shade, or damp?

The garden is at an angle so the border gets full sun apart from the end at tapers off to the back of the house.

It seems to be dry shade. I'm really not very green fingered but aiming to give it a good shot Grin

Vinca is poisonous though, in case you have pets
