Best seeds for direct sowing

I want to fill my borders as I'm in a newbuild and haven't got around to planting a lot yet. I always do nasturtiums as I find them pretty foolproof and this gear I've ventured into cosmos and sweetpeas as well. I haven't got much more room in my little zippy greenhouse so I'm hoping to direct sow some annuals in the next few weeks. I tend to go for whites, pinks and purples. Is there anything you would recommend? I've got fairly rubbish newbuild clay soil which I've tried to improve over the past few years by incorporating compost and mulching it with decorative bark. Thanks!

Calendula, acqueligia, cornflower, marigolds, sunflowers are all easy to grow. They prefer a poor soil.

I would try morning glory, but would start them off in pots initially, they will need something to grow up.

Candytuft, Californian poppies, and Nigella to add to the list.

They will be happy starting off on a sunny windowsill, and are quick to get going.
