Can I plant Jasmine in full sun?

The dc bought me a lovely climbing jasmine plant for Mother's day. I want to put it in the southwest facing front garden just outside the front door. The other option is the back garden patio, but this is very dark and damp and barely anything grows there except one very determined curry plant. The instructions say to plant Jasmine in a shady spot. I'm in Devon so sunny days are few and far between!

I have always planted it in full sun, sheltered spot and it has been fine.

I've just ordered one for the bottom of the garden, we have a paved area which gets good sun, (done last year so still deciding on plants here )

There's a fence it can climb .

I have a pink flowered climbing jasmine , years old , in the border .

I have a jasmine on a west facing fence, which gets the sun for most of the day. I don't think it's the best site to be honest; the leaves are a more limey green than they should be, they should be a richer, darker green. It does flower quite well though.

Can you put it in a pot and place it somewhere less southerly? Jasmine do look happier and healthier in a more shaded, less sun-intense spot.

My jasmine polyanthus is in full sun, south facing. It is very happy but very thirsty.

How much watering does it need ? I've noticed a few flowers looking a bit brown.,

Mine is in a big pot and climbs on a trellis, I give it 5L a day in the hight of summer hot weather, fertiliser every fortnight. I ignore it Oct to March, then 5L a week spring and autumn.

@Hohofortherobbers it is thirsty! Thanks for that, I will make sure it's getting enough water and a decent feed.
