Will my fern grow back?

Will my fern come back? Does the middle bit need to be covered with compost? Am I growing a weed in a pot ?

It's growing back now, I think.

Those bulbous bits towards the centre look like the new fronds, just waiting to unfurl. Do not cover them.

It's a bit early still for ferns, so more patience required I suspect

The 'tadaaaa' moment in fern growth is one of my favourite moments of the gardening year. Ferns are truly like fairy tale plants - to me
