My app says two different things. Weed or flowers?

Can anyone identify this please?

What two plants does the app give?

SunshineCake1 · 21/03/2022 14:25

Dicot or sunlowers/daisy or square stemmed willowherb

It’s an Epilobium (willowherbs) but impossible to determine for certain which one from that photo. It could be E tetragonum (square stemmed) but probably mor likely to be E montanum. Does the stem have 4 wigs running up it making it seem square?

Definitely a willowherb, don't know which. They're pretty, I kept a couple last year even though they're really weeds!

SunshineCake1 · 21/03/2022 17:21

That's what I wanted to know, if they were weeds. Thank you.

“Weed” is not a defined category. It depends entirely on the perception of the individual gardener.

M0RVEN · 21/03/2022 19:43

In my opinion it’s a weed and I’d dig it out .

SunshineCake1 · 21/03/2022 20:05

I agree @MereDintofPandiculation. I kept one weed as it had a lovely flower but these need to come out as there's too many and I want to replant the bed. With injury and illness it has been ages since I could do any work outside.

In mine, too. Not enough floral impact and far too vigorous, But just because we think that there's no reason for everyone to agree with us.

Rathwr a weedy looking weed imo but easy enough to pull out even if it gets big enough to flower (which is not very big btw)

SunshineCake1 · 22/03/2022 18:52

Thank you everyone. I have been weeding some more today. Why don't my flowers grow so fast ??

The native wildlowers in your garden are growing in conditions suited to them. Your garden plants may prefer different conditions
