What's your favourite houseplant and why?

Photo or link to it would be appreciated too.

I don't have a maranta. I think someone suggested one. My Swiss cheese plant definitely hasn't given up yet. It just looks a bit sad. I've put it down to lack of sun. But it could be lack of nutrients or something else. I only got it last summer.
Sorry I meant monstera 🤪 I was doing too many things at once lol.

Try giving the monstera one of those drip feed plant food bottles, or baby bio. You can propogate them easily in case you think it might die

Oh help, where do I even start? I have a conservatory which I wanted for growing houseplants. I've got five massive strelitzia reginae (Bird of Paradise) in there (currently in full bloom) and if I had to rescue one plant it would have to be the Mandela's gold. My oldest is 21 now and I am facing having to chop it back as it's 2m wide and tall. All seed-grown.

Apart from my giants, I've marantas (both kerchoveana and erythroneura) orchids, a huge money tree, a dracaena and three bougainvillea (pink, white and gold). And a grape ivy. And a happy stephanotis which has wound itself round the dracaena and two of the strelitzias. And an umbrella tree.

OK I don't have houseplants. I have a tame jungle. And I love it. It's been my mental oasis these past two years.

ps I also have a mahoosive bathroom spider plant.

Love it 😁

I LOVE houseplants!

My favorites are my many mother-of-thousands plants. They just keep growing and growing and when you want more, you just rip them down the middle and stick both pieces into separate pots.

Also my echeveria is like a beautiful green sculpture.

Just to resurrect this thread a wee bit - I’ve just received five baby plants from Friends Or Friends online, I think they are a small business. For a fiver each (buy 4 get one free) they are very nice quality, though obviously pretty small.

I’ve got myself a Philodendron Birkin, Philodendron Brasilia, String of Pearls, Umbrella plant, and a Monstera deliciosa all for the grand sum of £24. Hopefully they’ll grow quickly and thrive! Just wanted to let you know as it’s a fairly cheap way of trying something without spending mega-bucks. I think these species are all pretty low-care so we shall see how they go!

I have a peace lily that is 34 years old! I just keep repotting and splitting it and now I have loads of them, and give them away whenever I can. Easy to care for just water when droopy ( the plant... not me)

Plastic… only type that survives in my house Blush

Treated us to a little pilea yesterday. Way too small for the pot I accidentally bought in TKMaxx the other day....
