It does look a bit sage like. Have you tried crushing and sniffing a leaf?

MereDintofPandiculation · 24/12/2021 08:53

Best to confirm later in the year with a flower

Phatsia · 27/12/2021 21:50

I say it's brachyglottis (senecio greyii)

I thought senecio.

Theoldwrinkley · 27/12/2021 22:25

Another vote for senicio. I thought it had been re-named but didn't know what the new name was. If it is senicio then will have yellow daisy-like flowers in summer. It is grown mainly for the ever-grey foliage, but I think the flowers are pretty too. If it is a sage (possible from leaf shape complicated by my poor eyesight and tiny screen) it will have spikes of light bluey/purple flowers in summer.

Shedmistress · 27/12/2021 22:29

I'd say Phlomis.

EBearhug · 28/12/2021 00:54

I think same leaves are narrower and a bit longer.

EBearhug · 28/12/2021 00:55

Sage, not same. Bloody useless autocorrect.

llambingtime · 28/12/2021 07:08

Not in my garden and nowhere near it now so I can't pick a leaf to smell. I love the leaves - not as keen on the ragwort type flowers if it is senecio but it does look more like that than sage doesn't it. Thank you all.
