Advice needed; potted "memory" shrub or tree

Hoping for some recommendations. Have just had to have one of my lovely dogs PTS. I have her ashes back and would like to start a memory tree in the garden, where I can include her ashes in the pot and grow something as a reminder of her.

Needs to be potted so that if we ever move I can take it with us. Any suggestions??

I’m sorry for your loss Flowers
Is there a time of year that you had the best, most fun walks? Maybe choosing something with interest during that season would be the way to choose something.

I’m planning to get a Japanese maple in the spring. The last one I planted in the garden and I’m sad to see the new owners ripped it out, I want to grown one in a large container this time because I don’t want to leave it if we move again.

Thanks for the suggestion @BeLessMe

I love Japanese maples and am lucky to have a few in my garden already. But I love the idea of getting a potted one and maybe splashing out for a special variety?

Have just had a quick look and I really like the idea of a Katsura tree. The colours look lovely and the idea of a tree that smells like sugar will be a lovely reminder, as the dog was a bloody gannet!
