good afternoon.
I've planted some bulbs in pots , each morning they are lying on top of the soil , so I pop them back in..... then it happens again the next night.
is it rats? or something else? why are they digging them if not to eat them?
thanks in advance

Squirrels. They’re habitual hole diggers — either they’re looking for seeds, etc or burying food for storage.

Foxes dig mine up

Fox here too

Squirrels, probably. Put chicken wire over the pots, or at least gravel.

Er, grey squirrels don't hibernate...

Also agree it will be squirrels doing the digging, they can smell the bulbs. I ended up buying some pebbles to put round the plants in the pots by my front door to stop the little feckers burying nuts in there. Bloody plants were trashed.

It is the crows in my garden. I have some pots by my patio doors. I watched the crows last year pull them up.

Squirrels here too. Little buggers for it. They wreak havoc in my patio plants, I regularly come out to find them arse up in one.
