Hanging basket

I know this sounds a bit odd, but I have a sort of open porch (with a roof) at the front of my house, with a bracket for a hanging basket.
Obviously if I hung a plant up there it wouldn't get any rain, or direct sunlight. But it would be protected from wind, and probably frost.

Could anyone suggest a plant that would be able to survive, or even thrive in these conditions?.........if not, the bracket will be coming down Wink

Shade loving like succulents, ajuga or cyclamen. Maybe small ferns. But you would have to check it every so often to see if it needs watering.

I sometimes have a pot of small cyclamen in my porch in winter. Obviously needs watering but does fine. I should think pansies and violas would be ok too.

Indian mint trails and looks (and smells) great.

Not the answer but I bought a very realistic fake hanging basket which everyone assumes is real. It has a 'fern' and 'ivy' in it so does look like an all year rounder but I don't have to water it!

Burro’s tail, hangs down nicely, made for a hanging basket. Need to water a few times in summer, but as a succulent it will survive if you forget. Let it dry out from early September and don’t water again till May. Nice blue grey colour, with red flowers in summer.

Mine lives in an unheated greenhouse, probably doesn’t go below -2 or -3
