My jasmine has turned black

I moved a jasmine that was in a covered outdoor porch to a sunnier spot, but more wet. It has turned black, looks very withered and non existent. Should I cut it completely back or wait until the spring?

I would cut back all the withered and black bits because it might rot - I had one & unfortunately had to dig it out and get rid of it but just at the moment I would cut back anything that does not look healthy & then see what the sun does in the spring. If the roots are really wet that may be a problem. But please take advice from those more knowlegable than me - best of luck
