Salvia cuttings.

I took some salvia cuttings a month or so ago and put them in my summer house.
To start with they grew really well but now all but one have died.

What trick have I missed?

Tell us exactly how you took the cuttings, what did you put them in ? Did you leave them in the sun ?

I took them from fairly well established plants. Cut off the bottom few leaves and put them in my own compost in a pot. 4 to a pot. They are in a summer house with glass on two sides and a plastic roof. It is warm but only direct sun for part of the day.

Did you cut to a leaf node before putting in the compost? I mix compost with 50% grit to allow for good drainage. They do require some water from time to time, so they are just damp to touch.
I take more cuttings than I need as some always fail.
