My olive tree looks odd, I can't work out why, do I need to shape it but pruning the branches?

Yes, just give it a bit of a prune - it will probably grow new shoots and become a bit denser.

If it gets too big for inside you can probably put it outside - firstly in summer to get it acclimatised then leave it out in a sheltered place. Ive got 2 which have been outside for years now - both clipped into ‘balls’

I was pruning dead bits off my outside olive yesterday, and half- wondering if I should shape it more. I expect I shall have similar thoughts around this time next year....

Yes I think I might plant him out next year. Have I taken enough off or would you go shorter?

Leave it like that now. The idea with pruning is that it encourages the plant to put out new growth, and the best time to do that would be May or June next year.
