Could that be a black honeybee?
I saw it in my garden for a first time ever, never before.

Looks more like a fly.
There are flies which are bee mimics

crumblebug · 14/09/2021 14:15

Def not a honeybee, sorry OP Grin

RosieRoww · 14/09/2021 14:21

Well it was actually quite big, I did some Googling and think it may be a carpenter bee.

It doesn't appear to have a fluffy thorax like a carpenter bee

purplesequins · 14/09/2021 14:32

it's a kind of fly from the shape of her wings.

carpenter bees are jet black and the wings shimmer sort of blue metallic.

Beamur · 14/09/2021 14:33

Possibly. But the antenna? Looks more fly than bee.

crumblebug · 14/09/2021 14:35

It's a hoverfly

RosieRoww · 14/09/2021 14:40

I don't know then.😂😁

Sorry it's a type of fly 😁 you can tell from the eyes, antennae and wings easily enough once you know the difference. Still pretty though
