Dahlia - brown dried stems

The plant itself seems to be ok with new flower buds showing in September. (We had a huge amount of blooms in August.) But among all the branches, some stems on some branches turned brown and completed dried. There's on pattern to where the stems become brown and not enough to be alarming (I think). But I do hope it's not the early stage of some disease.

I will try to post a photo tomorrow. But is there anyone who knows an obvious explanation? Would appreciate it.

I’ve got something similar. It’s like the bottom half of the plant is dead yet the top half is alive and budding.

I don’t understand it. I can strip the dead bits away but then it would look weird.
