Yucca trees in pots

Hi I want to make my patio look a little bit Mediterranean and love yucca trees but I'm unsure how they will fare outside as many websites show them as indoor plants any ideas or names of appropriate species that will thrive in large pots.

Yucca gloriosa or Y. filamentosa are hardy ones, I have a variegated form of the first one planted in the garden. They can get quite large, but take some time to do so.

Cordyline are a hardy alternative, the red ones aren't so tough but my green one survived minus 8 last winter.
