Looks like a sunflower to me! Has it come up near to where you have bird feeders?

TheRosariojewels · 15/08/2021 20:19

A sunflower.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 15/08/2021 20:19

I thought sunflower too.

AnneKipankitoo · 15/08/2021 20:19

Same here !

Powerplant · 15/08/2021 20:23

Definitely sunflower. I have exactly the same in my garden and one is actually blooming.

MrsSkylerWhite · 15/08/2021 20:23

Argh, jinx!

Kazplus2 · 15/08/2021 20:40

I actually thought that too after seeing one in a friend's garden, however, the area it is in has only recently changed from a grassy area to one with plants and we definitely did not plant any sunflowers. Sent a pic to my gardener (well person who helped me improve it) and he said, just a weed and to get rid!

A weed is any plant that is growing where it is not supposed to.
Still looks like a sunflower. The seed might have been dropped by a bird or something.

ShowOfHands · 15/08/2021 20:46

It's a sunflower. Like others have said, it'll be a seed dropped by a bird. I have all sorts in my garden that I didn't plant, particularly buddleias, sunflowers, poppies, evening primrose. Its the birds/wind/rain moving seeds.

AnneKipankitoo · 15/08/2021 20:52

And there’s more ! 😂

That’s a sunflower. Looks like you’re getting a bud there too! Could’ve been dropped or blown in, you don’t have to deliberately plant something for it to grow :)

Kazplus2 · 15/08/2021 23:16

I'm going to leave it and see what comes of the bud. This was the other picture taken
