Cornus Kousa - no berries

I’ve had a cornus kousa in the garden for about four years, now about six feet tall. It flowered beautifully this year and had the start of small berries at the centre of the blooms. They just sort of disappeared. Seeing a CK on the tv last night, the berries were gorgeous and prolific!
Any gardeners out there who can advise?
TIA x

It's likely a bird ate them, or a squirrel. My budding holly berries keep disappearing, I just want them to ripen.

Hmmm, could be. Haven’t noticed birds on it and the wood pigeons are too heavy!
