African Violet

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas or has had success before, I've googled but can't seem to find the answer.... I've managed to propagate my lovely African Violet by cutting a leaf and placing into water. It's developed roots and little baby leaves. My question, do I need to remove/cut the original leaf?

Sorry, forgot to say I'd placed it into soil now!

My mum used to do them from cuttings. I think she used to make sure that the new cutting had really rooted well and was growing new leaves again a few weeks after repotting it into soil. Then she'd cut the old leaf off.
