Paving and Garden area

We are planning to have flags laid in our front garden but don't want to loose too much green space, so we are planning on having beds to plant. Is it okay to have a planted space under a window? Would it cause problems with damp up the wall?

hi there, I am a gardener so have done many planted areas under windows. I dont think there will be any problems with damp so long as the border is not raised (ie higher up the wall than your paths etc) but if you wanted to it would be best to check with a builder about damp proofing if you haven't had it done already

Make sure the earth isn't over the damp proof course and you will be ok. BUT this spot will be really dry so plant stuff that likes it dry; the soil may be pretty poor to so be prepared to dig in lots of organic matter to improve it (and help with dryness)

Thanks so much for your help, that is brilliant news and will now be able to make a lovely feature in the front garden.
