Echinops ritro - no flowers

Hi all, planted a new perennial flowerbed at the beginning of the year which is now looking gorgeous. Everything is flowering happily except the 3 echinops which don’t seem to have grown very much, and don’t look at all like they’re going to flower, although the leaves look healthy enough. Any thoughts? I wondered if they’re the type which flower the year after they germinate perhaps?

Yes I had the same problem, they put on masses of root growth and flowered beautifully in the second year so don't give up!

Ah thanks... looks like I will have to be patient then!
