What is eating my rose?

The new leaves on my rose bush are being eaten by something. The older leaves are ok and the plant seems healthy enough. I can't see any visible insects on there.

Have you seen this before? I don't use pesticides, but I'd like to have an idea what's going on. Thank you!

Ohhh, google suggests leaf cutter bees. I hope that's right. Perhaps they're living in our bug hotel.

It's definitely leaf cutter bees they do it to mine every year . I've even seen them doing it before

check your hotel - you can clearly see the bits of leaf they've used. Very cute!

That is good news - not sure why bees are preferable to caterpillars or snails, but they are!
