Garden privacy

Hi this is my neighbours fence. It is a lovely fence, but I really miss privacy. I've always been used to solid fencing, walls & hedging. We can see each other very easily through the cream trellis, and I am struggling to think of ideas to create more privacy. All suggestions really appreciated! Thanks very much.

That is a lovely fence.
I’d put some large pots along it with something tall inside, tree lilies if you and NDN don’t have cats, clumping bamboo, tree peony, ceanothus etc

Put some high shelves near it, with some planters in, perhaps. Or get a large pot with a trellis that you can grow climbers up

Although at the moment we have a hedge between us and the NDNs, DH has made staging out of old pallets that raises large pots off the ground so that we can enjoy the plants.
They were very simple to make and only involved a saw!
However, I have been told that this evening they are cutting it down to a manageable height! 😲

Any evergreen climbers in planters with trellis behind are good but some take a while to fill out. If you want to go with bamboo, choose the variety and the type of pot very carefully. When we moved in there was a lot of bamboo in long wooden planters that we tried to move. Turned out it had grown through the planters and through the decking. Took forever to get out and left some very big holes in the decking.

My friends have moved into a barren new build estate that feels very overlooked. One of their neighbours has planted some pleached photinia in their garden for privacy. Not cheap but it looks really lovely.

I bought this, not sure what you call it( room divider?)and it's perfect, gives me a few metres of privacy from neighbours when it's stretched fully.
