Tomato newbie - leaf problem

Hi - I posted on another thread but killed it so I've made another! Grin

Could anyone advise on what might be wrong with the leaves on my tomato plants please? They are grown from some supermarket vine tomatoes that I was going to throw out. I don't know whether that means they will produce fruit or not.

There are a few stems with dodgy leaves - 95% of the leaves are okay. I've turned the leaves over and can't find any pests.

The pot was on a table when the damage occurred, so I don't think it's a slug. If it were insects - wouldn't I have found the culprit on another leaf?

Just remove it, it won’t matter.

No need to remove the leaf, it’s still functioning.

Could be a caterpillar, which would be small and well camouflaged. Mine are usually yellow underwing which, although common, are a pretty moth, so I tolerate damage.

Are you feeding it with tomato fertiliser?

Yes, you should get fruit. There was a long thread last year from someone who’d grown and passed on a lot of plants from a supermarket tomato and who was panicking, but she got a good crop. Might not be the same as the parent - depends on which plant the pollen came from

Thanks very much for the info, I really appreciate it.

I've given them one feed of Miraclegro. They seem to be big strong plants other than the small amount of damage. I think I can see the beginnings of flowers. I just wanted to check that the damage wasn't anything that might spread.

Is there much difference between Miraclegro and tomato fertilizer?
