Help with weeds

Hi there,
I'm a bit of a novice but hoping someone can help!

I seen to have a real problem with weeds in my driveway that my neighbours don't have?

About 4 weeks ago I sprayed every single one with string weedkiller, a week later power washed the whole driveway (it's quite a big drive way) and there wasn't a single weed left. Then covered the drive with bags of sand to fill the cracks. It looked brand new.

However, less than 2 weeks later they're growing back so fast, literally overnight. And there's lots of moss too.

I would've thought I'd done all I can but the thing is that my neighbours don't have this issue! When I've asked them they've said they spray their driveway with weedkiller all over (same type I used) 2-3 times a year and it keeps them away!

So why is mine different? Is it the position of my house making it more favourable? If maybe cos I have a tree with flowers next to the drive that's blowing on to drive?

Any tips at all? It's driving me nuts!

TIA Thanks

It could be because your weeds were well established mature perennial weeds with long tap roots. In which case, one zapping with weed killer won’t be enough and they will need a few treatments.

Once you’ve killed them, if you keep up a regular maintenance regime like your neighbours, new weeds can’t get established as seedlings are easily despatched.

Thanks @VenusClapTrap

I'll repeat a few more times!

I'm not sure if some of the formulations such as pathclear and patio magic leave an inhibitory residue. Perhaps skip the power washing after this time and see if that makes a difference either way?
