Hi all, I have a hollyhock that comes back every year with beautiful palest yellow/pink flowers, this year I have one flower with one petal that is dark red, never seen this before!

Ooh, a glitch in the matrix maybe Grin

Looks awesome, like people who have a streak of white in their hair

Ha- on the thumbnail picture I thought there was something across the lens!

That's really interesting, do you have dark hollyhocks anywhere near this one?
Reminds me of those petunias that look like a galaxy.

I suspect that the plant you have is a hybrid, and something has somehow caused that one to revert to the dominant gene in a parent.

Might be worth saving the seeds from that particular flower...

How cool! I have a dahlia that each year produces one or two flowers with a single pure white petal nestled in amongst the deep pink petals, I love how unusual it looks!

Thanks all, it’s definitely unusual! I quite like these quirky things in the garden. Good call @yamadori I will save the seeds!
