Stupid question about roses

Could someone explain to me the difference between rambling and climbing roses. I thought that climbing roses were repeat flowering and rambling roses were once flowering, but I've come across a couple that repeat flower. A couple that are medium sized so not all are very tall either. I need one for a shady part of my garden and trying to decide, thanks for any answers

Its probably a somewhat arbitrary distinction, with some which don't fit the general rules.

I think you are right in general but there will always be a few which flower differently. David austin is an excellent site for rose information.

I don't suppose it matter really, as long as it suits the location.
