Houseplant care app??

I love houseplants but and have loads but am really really bad at looking after them. Sad

They drown or dehydrate on a regular basis and no matter what the type of plant, at some point they all seem to give up the struggle for survival in such crap conditions!

I think I need an app that I can plug them all into and will just tell me when I need to water etc.

Has anyone seen / used anything like that???

It's a bloody expensive way to decorate your home as I keep having to replace them!!

I haven't seen an app but you can get a stick thingy you put in the soil & it goes a certain colour when water is needed. I think it might be from Baby Bio as I saw it in the plant food section, possibly at B&Q.

I’ve got an app called Planta which tells you when to water etc. It’s not as high tech as you’re asking for- you have to manually input your plants and where they are but then it gives you a watering/feeding schedule with reminders. But if you’re as hopeless as me you’ll just ignore the reminders and fail to update it with new plants when you get them.

I bought a hydrometer from Amazon which is pretty handy. The real difference has been learning that plants need a lot less water than you think. I water my pothos (devils ivy), watermelon peperomia and prayer plant every 2-3 weeks, my orchids every month and my snake plants every 2 months. They've been thriving since I stopped trying to be kind.

@MilduraS I definitely kill them with kindness!!!

@FaintlyMacabre when I say 'plug into' I did just mean type them into so that sounds good. Although I do identify with the tendency to ignore even the most helpful reminders!

I use Planta for mine (it’s currently shouting at me because I have to water some of them and can’t be bothered 😬). I pay the annual subscription to unlock all the features but trialled the free version first.

In fairness, my plants generally are thriving & its 100% down to the app.
