We're visiting shrophshire in a couple of weeks and wondered if anyone could recommend the best garden for a day out?

There’s the Dorothy Clive Gardens on the A51 near Market Drayton. There’s also Bridgemere garden Centre just into Cheshire near Nantwich.

The national trust places are all lovely - Powis Castle the best garden perhaps - or Attingham Park.

Not in Shropshire, but not far out, is Erddig.

(I’ve not been yet but it’s on my list!)

Further into Wales is Bodnant, maybe too far if you’re in the south of Shropshire, but I have been there and it’s stunning.

Attingham park has a beautiful kitchen garden too

But if you want ultimate beautiful garden it has to be Woollerton Old Hall. It’s really beautiful. Dorothy Clive is lovely too

Not Shropshire but Staffordshire, unquestionably Biddulph Grange. Beautiful garden, made up of a lot of smaller gardens - Chinese, Egyptian, Himalayan etc, and a Stumpery. So many different things to look at, all woven into a harmonious whole.

David Austin roses!
You have to pre-book

If you are in Shrewsbury you could have a quick (and free) pop into The Cut.
